MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY 2025 Honoring Shared Stories

“Reflecting on our recent Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, part of the U.S.-Sierra Leone Harmony Exchange Program, I’m grateful for the chance to connect with friends I met during my Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program in the U.S. Their visit to Sierra Leone added a special touch to the event, reminding us of all of the power of cross-cultural bonds” Allieu Christopher Moiwa, Project Lead

We honored Dr. King’s legacy of justice, equality, and unity and discussed how these values resonate in Sierra Leone and the U.S. Together, we shared reflections on how we can contribute to building a more inclusive and peaceful world. Seeing how shared stories can bring us closer, break down barriers, and encourage positive change was inspiring.

This exchange strengthens the connection between our countries and reminds us of the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding.
